History of Harvest America
- Harvest America corporation is a bilingual multicultural 501C3 nonprofit organization in service to our communities. Established in 1981, Harvest America seeks to combat the conditions of poverty that affect migrant and seasonal farmworkers, low income and limited resource families, non-English speakers, isolated and rural families and powerless populations of Kansas.
- Through the development of partnerships with participants, government, business, and service providers, Harvest America promotes family strengthening, self-sufficiency and empowerment.
- A community-based organization, Harvest America is governed by the principle of community ownership. To that end, Harvest America has established Target Area Councils (TACs) to identify and address the needs of the poor, the needs of their communities, and to provide input for the leadership and direction of the organization.
- In recognition of its responsibilities, Harvest America provides leadership in the identification and assessment of policies and trends which impact its target populations. Harvest America operates programs that are designed to address the needs identified by the communities it serves.
- To that end, Harvest America Corporation's board adopted goals which focus on the priorities of Housing, Education, Health, Employment and Emergency Services.
